Who we are, and what we do!
MathSense Education is a Maths Tuition and Consulting company, that works with PARENTS, SCHOOLS and ORGANISATIONS to support students of all ages.
With regards to school aged students...
We help to improve the mathematical success and outcomes of young people in two main ways. The first is DIRECTLY with the student, using tuition packages that can be accessed by parents, schools and other organisations, and the second is INDIRECTLY, through supporting their teachers and parents / carers.
The DIRECT approach uses Tuition packages to:
Help build confidence
Close gaps in student knowledge
Raise attainment in maths
Our packages include:
Private tuition
Small group tuition
Online tuition
School-based ‘Maths Clubs’
School Workshops
7 Steps To Success Instructional Videos
The INDIRECT approach is through our Consultancy strand (for schools), and the work that we do with parents.
Consulting that is designed to be supportive, encouraging and empowering
We collaborate with your maths teachers and Head of Maths
Support you in raising the standards of teaching and learning
Provide CPD to specific staff members
Offer coaching and mentoring to individual, and groups, of teachers
Nurture teacher talents to help grow, develop and support them in their maths pedagogy and teaching practise
Similarly, because we know that parental attitudes to maths can have a big impact on young student’s attitudes to the subject, we support parents by offering an ‘adults only’ beginners math class – so that they can:
Improve their knowledge
Be empowered to use number confidently in their everyday lives
Help their children with tasks like school homework
Change the language they use around the subject of maths
The adult only maths class is also suitable for post-18 young adults who need support accessing maths education due to a course entry requirement, change in career, or to gain better employability skills. See more information below.
As for our adult (18+) students...
We currently run an online ‘Adult Only’ group class which teaches the GCSE curriculum to students who are no longer in full time education. This class helps adults to improve their maths knowledge and be empowered to use number confidently in their everyday lives, building on their work related and employability skills.
Our students choose to access this class for a number of different reasons, including:
To help them meet post 18 course entry requirements
Due to a change in career
To be able to help their children with tasks like school homework
As a hobby
For personal growth
Some of our students are re-taking their GCSE accreditation through their local councils, and are using tuition with MathSense to compliment and extend the learning they are already doing at the adult education centres.

Sarah is able to walk the bridge between Primary and Secondary tuition very easily, due to a generous amount of experience within each sector. After completing her degree in Primary Education with a specialism in Maths, Sarah worked as a Secondary school teaching assistant while she raised her family. She has two daughters, one in primary school and the other in secondary, and this drives her to remain up to date with both curriculums. After 6 years of supporting SEND students, Sarah’s enthusiasm for education – and maths – lead her to obtain Qualified Teaching Status, and she now teaches Maths to 11 – 16 year olds. Sarah is particularly passionate about teaching students with SEND, and finds it rewarding to watch the progress they make with her. Sarah got in to teaching, and tutoring, because she wants to make a difference to the students she works with.
